Vietnam's First Operator Obtains License To Use 5G Frequency Band

On December 22, the “Vietnam News Agency” recently reported that the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam formally issued a 5G frequency band license to the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT Group) for commercial testing of 5G networks. This is the first license in Vietnam Operator.

According to the license signed by the Radio Frequency Bureau of the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, VNPT can use the ground mobile frequency band of the 2600-2690MHz base station and the receiving and transmitting frequency bands to test and evaluate the market and technology before officially operating 5G telecommunication services.

VNPT uses this frequency band from December 16, 2020 to June 30, 2021. The coverage area is Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, VNPT VinaPhone began to launch 5G mobile network test signals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from the end of November 2020. Mobile users have already experienced the VinaPhone 5G network with a maximum speed of 2.2Gbps, and the average speed is 10 times that of the current 4G.
