How’s the 40G QSFP+ SR4 application?

As a backbone network for network transmission applications, 40G networks have gradually become popular. The QSFP + 40G SR4 optical module is widely used in 40G short-distance network transmission. So what is QSFP-40G-SR4 optical module? What are the applications?

1. What’s 40G QSFP+ SR4 optical transceivers?

The QSFP + 40G SR4 optical module uses MTP / MPO dual-channel network transmission interface. It can use various methods to connect the QSFP + SR4 optical module with other equipment in different applications. The QSFP + 40G SR4 transceiver is for short distance transmission by using multimode fiber transmission. 40G QSFP+ SR4 can transmit 100m on OM3 fiber and transmit 150m on OM4 fiber. 

2. 40G QSFP+ SR4 transmission

The 40G SR4 QSFP + optical module is transmitted through four channels. The electrical signal is first converted into an optical signal by a laser array, and then the photodetector array converts the parallel optical signal into a parallel electrical signal. Then realize the 40G optical connection by using MTP/PO connector.


3. The 40G QSFP+ SR4 application

QSFP + SR4 optical module can realize 40G to 40G transmission in 40G fiber network environment. The simplest and most effective connection scheme is to plug QSFP-40G-SR4 into two 40G switches, and then use MTP trunk multimode fiber jumpers to connect the two optical modules to form an optical fiber link.

The QSFP 40G SR4 optical module is a parallel optical module. Its four optical fiber interfaces receive at the same time. Therefore, the 40G optical fiber signal can be divided into four 10G signals to achieve 40G to 10G transmission applications. For high-density network cabling, a 48-port MTP 1U rack cabinet is used to connect MTP-8LC branch fiber jumpers, which can be divided into four 10G signals for transmission.


With the rapid development of 40G Ethernet, the use of 40G optical modules is becoming more and more common, of which QSFP-40G-SR4 optical modules are widely used in 40G short-range applications.
